Colts QB Manning has 2nd surgery on injured neck (BLOG)

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Peyton Manning has undergone a second surgery on his injured neck and there is no timetable for his return to the Colts. The Colts said the procedure was done Thursday and that Manning is expected to recover. They're just not sure when.
Manning had a single level anterior fusion in his neck after undergoing tests and consulting with doctors earlier this week.
The Colts will keep the four-time league MVP on the active roster for now.
For Manning, it is the third surgery in 19 months. He had not fully recovered from a May 23 procedure to fix a damaged nerve in his neck.
Manning had already been ruled out of Sunday's season opener at Houston, ending a streak of 227 consecutive starts including playoffs -- the league's second-longest for a quarterback behind Brett Favre.
