Nonito Donaire KO`s Vargas in Third Round

In the main event, Donaire scored a third-round knockout of Manuel Vargas (26-5-1, 11 KOs) of Jalisco, Mexico, dropping him with a right hand, followed by a left that had referee Joe Cortez counting Vargas out at 1:33 of the round. (Donaire is pictured above on the below, with Vargas).
Montiel impressively defended his crown with a first-round knockout over Ciso Morales (14-1, eight KOs), of Bohol, Philippines.

Morales was counted out at 2 minutes, six seconds of the round by referee Robert Byrd, this, after failing to rise after taking one of three, triple-left hooks right on the beltline from Montiel.

Morel earned a controversial, split-decision over former two-time world champion Gerry Penalosa (54-8-2, 36 KOs), of Cebu, Philippines, to win their WBO 118-pound title eliminator.

Judges Duane Ford and Paul Smith had it, 116-112, and, 115-113, for Morel, with Dick Houck scoring it for Penalosa, 115-113. FanHouse had it for Penalosa, 115-113.

Bernabe Concepcion (30-2-1, 17 KOs), of Rizal, Philippines, scored a unanimous decision victory over Puerto Rican southpaw Mario Santiago (21-2-1, 14 KOs) for the right to face WBO titlist, Juan Manuel Lopez (28-0, 25 KOs), of Puerto Rico in June.
