The China made iPed, manufactured in Shenzhen, is a tablet computer cheaper than the Apple iPad. iPed was launched in China the very same day that iPad was launched in the US.
According to PCMag.com, iPed is being sold at around $150, compared with the minimum Apple iPad’s $500.
Other people are wondering if some people from Apple is behind the cloning of its own product. The company that manufactures iPed is near Foxconn, maker of the iPad, iPod touch and iPhone.
The iPed looks very similar with iPad and is being run by version 1.5 of the Android OS. It also has a screen resolution of only 800 by 400 pixels, lower compared to the iPad’s 1,024 by 768-pixel screen.
